Catherine Darbord

Presenter / Entertainer, Throat singing

Initially working as a documentalist and later as an executive in the banking sector, I began a profound inner journey in 1984 alongside my professional career. I trained in yoga, meditation, and various self-knowledge and wellness techniques, following courses in natural medicine and alternative therapies such as rebirthing, kinesiology, and as a guide for initiatory journeys.

Parcours

I continue to explore practices from diverse traditions and philosophies by traveling to the four corners of the world. From these journeys, I bring back influences from Buddhism, Shamanism, and Sufism. I harness the power of sound, breath, and energy to guide others toward well-being through different states of consciousness. In the 1990s, I chose to focus my work on supporting individuals in their personal fulfillment.

Drawn to music since childhood, I studied piano at the conservatory before venturing into world music at a very young age, fueled by a constant curiosity for new sounds. I explore the multiple dimensions of the voice through Sound Yoga, the Wilfart Method, Psychophony, and overtone singing. I specialized in this last discipline, which I have been practicing and teaching in seminars both in France and abroad for over thirty years.

My passion for the crystalline sound of harmonics also led me to play various instruments particularly rich in overtones, such as the didgeridoo, jaw harp, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, Taoist bowls, and gongs.”

En bref...

Since 1992, I have been performing in concerts and shows across various styles, ranging from contemplative to ethnic music, including street theater and performance art. I explore the different facets of sound and blend their textures into a unique music born of the present moment.

Constantly experimenting with the beneficial effects of music, I applied my expertise to the field of mental disability and earned my degree as a special education teacher in 2005.

Today, enriched by the depth of my journey, my work focuses primarily on therapy and music, including overtone singing lessons, concerts and recordings, workshops and seminars, as well as individual sessions (sound therapy, rebirthing, etc.).

These activities continue to expand through numerous collaborations in the realms of dance, painting, the feminine, tantra, and shamanism.
