Kenya – a return to the primal forces of the Earth
At the Gates of Enkai, the God of the Maasai
Key highlights
Arrival city
It has been almost two years since I began making offerings to the mythical Mount Kilimanjaro, which now seems to finally be opening its door.
There is no doubt that Kilimanjaro is a highly vibrational place, playing a key role in the energetic balance of the Earth.
Kenya is often seen as a purely “safari” destination. Yet it is also a land of immense spiritual depth, where nature is experienced as a sanctuary and where one can still feel the echo of the cradle of humanity. Standing in the Great Rift Valley often brings a profound sense of reconnection to one’s origins.
The silence of the Chyulu Hills: an ideal place to practice “mindful walking.” Unlike crowded parks, the absolute solitude of the Chyulu Hills allows for rare introspection. Hemingway spoke of a “beauty that hurts”; it is an ideal place for forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) in the cloud forests.
Contemplating Kilimanjaro: for the Maasai people, the mountain is not just a summit but the dwelling place of Enkai (God). Meditating at sunrise facing this giant is to immerse oneself in a powerful telluric energy.
Near Diani Beach, we have the opportunity to visit the sacred Kaya forests.
These are UNESCO-listed sites, once fortified villages of the Mijikenda peoples.
Today, they are regarded as the dwellings of the ancestors. One enters with respect, often barefoot or dressed in a traditional kanzu. It is a spiritual experience connected to biodiversity protection and the veneration of the ancestors.
Your Sacred Journey
Highlights
Spirituality in Kenya is vibrant and communal. It is not only internal—it is sung and danced.
The workshops of Catherine Darbord resonate in perfect harmony with the powerful, unspoiled sounds of African forest bathing, where the wind, birds, and deep silences become vibrational partners to our own voices, which we find ourselves allowing to emerge freely. It is a true experience of self-discovery, a dive into our original nature, carried by the raw and majestic energy of the wild heart of the African continent.
The coast is not only festive; it is also a place of well-being.
Yoga above the ocean: many eco-lodges in Diani offer yoga and meditation sessions at sunrise on wooden platforms overlooking the turquoise water.
Digital detox: take advantage of the sometimes limited connectivity in the parks to fully disconnect. The “Pole Pole” (slowly, slowly) rhythm is not just an expression—it is a Swahili philosophy of life.

February 13, 2027 – Departure for Nairobi, capital of Kenya
Night flight. We will all meet at the airport at 6:00 AM on February 14, 2027. A Zoom meeting will be organized beforehand to coordinate arrivals.
February 14, 2027 – Crossing the Threshold
Nairobi is just a gateway. You arrive in the warm light of East Africa. Away from the bustle, an eco-lodge nestled in the gardens of Karen welcomes you. Time slows down. An opening circle with Catherine sets the intention of the journey. This is where disconnection begins: phones off, breath slowing down.
In the calm of an eco-lodge surrounded by ancient trees, you release the pace of the Western world.
February 15, 2027 – The Appearance
The savannah opens. Then it appears. Mount Kilimanjaro is not just a mountain. It is a presence. Among the Maasai, it is linked to Enkai, the divine principle. Sitting facing it at sunrise means entering into resonance with an ancient telluric force. Meditation is not guided. It happens naturally.
February 16, 2027 – Facing Enkai, The People of the Sky and Cattle
At dawn, you meditate facing Kilimanjaro. For the Maasai, this mountain is the dwelling of Enkai. The energy there is dense and grounding. Later, a respectful encounter with a local Maasai community allows you to understand the sacred bond between humans, cattle, and the land. Their spirituality does not separate humans from animals or from the sky. Everything is relationship. The savannah becomes an open-air temple. Every elephant is an ancient guardian. Every breath of wind is a reminder.
February 17, 2027 – The Kingdom of Silence in the Green Hills
The Chyulu Hills. A nearly untouched territory. Here, silence is dense, almost tangible. The Chyulu Hills rise like an emerald wave frozen in time. Almost no one is here. You walk mindfully through the cloud forest. Each step becomes presence. The camp is simple and intimate. The night is pure, free from light pollution. Deep mindful walking. Deep forest bathing. You feel your nervous system slow down. The mind dissolves.
February 18, 2027 – The Depths of Fire
In the lava tunnel, the Earth reveals its incandescent past. You walk through the belly of the volcano. A moment to listen to what within you is ready to transform. At night, the stars seem closer than ever. You explore a lava tunnel carved by ancient fire—a mineral cathedral. Digital detox becomes effortless; it arises naturally.
February 19, 2027 – Water of Purification
Mzima Springs. An oasis born from volcanic depths. Silent observation of hippos underwater. A simple ritual: symbolically cleanse the old to welcome a new cycle.
February 20, 2027 – The Transition
A train journey takes you to Diani. The sand is white like mother-of-pearl. The water is warm. You allow the savannah to gently settle within you. The savannah gives way to the ocean. The Water element takes over. In Diani, the turquoise sea invites softness and fluidity. The “Pole Pole” rhythm becomes natural.
February 21, 2027 – The Forests of the Ancestors
The Kaya forests. UNESCO-listed, but above all living sanctuaries. You enter barefoot, with humility. These forests are the ancestral homes of the Mijikenda people. They protect both biodiversity and memory. You are not visiting a site—you are entering a sacred space.
February 22, 2027 – Sailing Between Two Worlds
On board a traditional dhow, with its lateen sail stretched toward the sky, you cross the waters of Kisite. Beneath the surface, coral life dances. The ocean is a mirror. It reflects what you have gone through in the past days. At sunset, a closing circle.
February 23, 2027 – The Transformed Return
A sunrise walk. Fishermen returning to the harbor. The sea breathes softly. You leave with something invisible yet profound. A part of you will remain here—at the Gates of Enkai. Return to Nairobi. The day’s program depends on the internal flight schedule. The service ends after the domestic flight in Nairobi late morning. We recommend departing from Nairobi starting February 24, 2027.
